I spent last weekend engrossed in the amazingness that was the first-ever Craftcation: Indie Business & DIY Conference. Creative people come up with the most awesome goodie bags ever. (I) am psyched for next year. I wrote about it on my site yesterday and people we’re loving the concept/amped to attend the next one.

THANK YOU so much for letting me be a part of Craftcation. It was great and everyone was having such a good time, attendees were just randomly coming up to me and telling me this

Thank you to EVERYONE that I met along the way and to both Delilah and Nicole for putting together such an amazing event!
christine Haynes (presenter)
it was amazing and awesome and the BEST PLANNED event I have ever attended and I have been to quite a few. I even planned one last year. Yours was by far the best and you all did an amazing job!! I am honored to have been a part of it How could it be there was this whole group of talented fun, unique, diverse, and inspiring people I had never even met? The presenters knocked it out of the park–wow you got some AMAZING people there!!!…Craftcation was different. If they opened registration for Craftcation 2013 I would not eat the rest of the month so I could sign up. Okay, maybe not to that extreme but you get the picture.

I know we told you many times over the Craftcation weekend what an amazing experience it was, but now that it’s passed, we feel the need to emphasize it at least once more! We signed up for the conference with some uncertainty, not knowing if we should spend the money, if people would be friendly or social, what the quality of information would be like, but during the fist lecture, we couldn’t help but laugh at ourselves for ever having had those thoughts. The efficiency with which everything was carried out, the amazing caliber of lecturers who conveyed their information so professionally, and were friendly and approachable, and the way that you and Nicole made every attendee feel personally welcome and valuable…I have no words for. I eagerly await next year’s Craftcation. it bears repeating from post numero uno, that it was PHENOMENAL!! Craftcation lost no momentum as the weekend progressed and I was inspired by the surroundings, people, and information….
If you have the opportunity to attend Craftcation next year, don’t miss it!

Had such a great experience at Craftcation last weekend in Ventura. I signed up for Saturday only but even after my first class I wished I’d signed up for more. I learned so much from the four classes I took. There was such a great vibe–so open and friendly. Loved learning from indie DIY stars like Lauren Venell, Jenny Hart, Steph Calvert and Nicole Stevenson (she and her aunt her aunt Delilah are the team responsible for it all). They weren’t just super smart and talented, but also really funny. it is cool to connect the dots on people I’ve been aware of over the years and see what a tight and supportive community creativity can make. My confidence level in what to do moving forward with the business side of Little Rabbit Print–way up!

Their awesome idea to create and organize this event has ignited fire in many women who are eager to start or improve their crafty businesses. This event was impressively well organized and executed. Hard to believe it was the first one. It was incredible to be around like minded women. WOW! Chock full of goodies; a stuffed Monkey (thanks Mail Chimp), snacks and magazines, a fabulous water bottle and more. It was an amazing assortment of gifts to help us through the day(s) and beyond. From the very first moment of being welcomed creativity flowed. Upon reflection I wish I could have stayed for two days and not just one. Great business classes, sweet craft workshops, and simply meeting other like minded people was refreshing and inspirational. There was much to be digested, absorbed, and celebrated.

I learned SOOOO much in just those few days. Honestly, there was so much to learn, so many amazing presenters, lots of like-minded people to share stories-lives-and passions with… it hardly seems possible that by some magic we all came together for four days. Great bag. And it was stuffed with amazing things!! As I unpacked it, I couldn’t believe how much was inside… Many of the attendees this weekend came from way far away, but as I talked with them, they expressed that it was well worth the effort and expense… and that they would definitely do it again. I feel the same way, and I’m already looking forward to Craftcation 2.

to say I left energized would be an understatement! I can’t even begin to tell you all the helpful shop info the conference gave me. I had such an amazing time, meeting new indie biz owners, listening to some amazingly successful business owners.

At the risk of bringing you to tears I have to once again tell you how much everything you and Deliah did to put this event on was appreciated by myself and everyone else I spoke with. I have been to many conferences in my day but have never been to anything quite like Craftcation. An event where everyone involved was there to share and give of themselves. Starting with you two and ending with all those who attended, the overwhelming feeling of community and support was priceless. It really felt like we were in at the start of something big, a wave of change. I must admit before I signed up I had my doubts as to how I would fit into the group because of my age and experience (we won’t talk about the age!) but it honestly felt like there were no barriers and that everyone spoke the same language. It didn’t matter what your specialty was we all seem to find some kind of common ground. The openness of the presenters to provide information that some of them are probably paid good money to give was amazing. When researching a new business you generally don’t get the benefit of hearing the trials and tribulations of other owners helping you to not make the same mistakes. This event could not have been better timed for us. Angharad was so insightful as to the mistakes she made and what she would have done differently. We came back from the weekend with a renewed sense of urgency in getting our shop open.
Thank You..Thank You

It was definitely an enthusiastic crowd and the conference was a blast…I met new friends and learned all kinds of good stuff — I even brought home my very own fermentation kit which is sitting on my counter turning cabbage to sauerkraut as I write. Hopefully this conference will happen again in the future, it is definitely worth checking out.

I can’t stop talking about Craftcation to anyone who will listen. What a successful thing you guys have created. The energy was great and it was so well organized. I still have a stack of biz cards that people gave me waiting for me – I want to connect with everyone again.

Hi Nicole! I wanted to send you a quick thank you for all of your hard work on Craftcation. My business partner and I make jewelry out of vintage and upcycled items. We have been in business for 2 years and really felt that this year was our year for expansion. We heard about Craftcation through a friend at Storey Publishing. We didn’t really have any expectations going in and you guys totally blew us away! We learned SOOOO much that we’re overwhelmed and freaking out excited all at the same time. Your facilitators were so diverse and all amazing. I know that you are probably exhausted this week but know that you & Delilah ROCKED! Thanks again.
carolyn goodfellow-adams (attendee)
I just wanted to personally THANK YOU for hosting another wonderful Craftcation this year! Both my Mother & I had a fantastic times. Craftcation 2012 was most excellent, but 2013 was OUTRAGEOUS! I will be attending again next year (probably with my mom again).
chrissy mahuna (the felted chicken)
Once again thank you. thank you, thank you for a fantastic conference. I’ve already applied much of what I have learned and cannot wait to see how far I go until it comes around next year! Food phenomenal as well and believe you me my husband wins incentive trips all over the world and your guys food is up there with some 5 star resorts.
michelle e. black (attendee)
Craftcation 2013 was even better than 2012. I think it was in the details….hard to pinpoint exactly, but it seems that you, Delilah and your support people anticipated all of the little things that would make all 4 days go smoothly. Or at least it seemed that way to “us”, the attendees. The handmade decorations, the water provided at workshops, snacks, freebies, the healthy delicious lunches, the workshop scheduling info, etc…..all so welcome. Sharing the account of the 4 days with my family each evening allowed them to see that being a Maker is a legit profession. And Craftcation is helping to expand that perspective even further- into the marketplace. Craftcation helped me last year, and even more this year, see myself as worthy of professional regard. I’m not just a little dabbler going to rinky-dink church bazaars. This is a movement, and we are all part of it. I’m a Maker! (I loved that you branded us all with that title during the Round Table Presentation). We have a legit title. We see more and more articles in magazines and online that center on the expanding (and expansive) world of Makers. It’s exciting. Craftcation provides a forum for us to all get together, connect, share, and stay in contact with one another; something that I found particularly lacking in my life before. This year, I met Makers from Massachusetts, Wyoming, Oregon etc…Wow!
So, again, many thanks to you, Nicole and Delilah, and the rest of your help, for another amazing Craftcation. I actually got sick on one of the days, but there was no way I was going to go home and miss anything!!
-keri cleverly (attendee)
So perhaps I didn’t stress this enough last year when I came back from an amazing few days at the very first Craftcation Conference – here is the brief wrap up post & Project Life post. If you’ve never my advice before, this is the time to maybe reconsider. Every single one of you creative folks reading this right now should seriously mark your calendar for next March. I know it sounds like a bossy order, but you can thank me in person at the event next year. Craftcation is honestly one of the most amazing gatherings I have ever attended. Nicole and Delilah, founders of Patchwork, do a FANTASTIC job with events and I would back them on any endeavor they allowed me to be a part of.
